Other Notes

From card: "Has ribbon applique; shoulder straps are beaded. Possibly complete costume. Collected by Frances Densmore." This strap dress has an original Frances Densmore tag with it that indicates it was collected in 1917 and that it was part of a set. The Densmore provenance most likely means it was collected in Minnesota. There are a pair of sleeves, Catalogue No. 357904 in the Evans collection, that appear to be related to/form a set with this dress. - F. Pickering 12-9-2007 Text of tag, which is presumably in Frances Densmore's hand, follows: "Womans's costume comprising: 1. Dress, 2. Sleeves, 3. Leggins, 4. Moccasins, 5. Beaded sash (belt), 6. Otter-skin hair ornaments, 7. Beaded hair ornament; coll. by Frances Densmore 1917."
