John Petre Collection

Collection consists of four portraits by Dutch artist (working in England) John Verelst (1648-1734), painted in 1710. Commissioned by Queen Anne, they depict four Iroquois sachems, who travelled to London as ambassadors of the Five Nations Confederacy. They are: Tee Yee Neen Ho Ga Row (baptized: Hendrick), Ho Nee Yeath Taw No Row (baptized: John), Sa Ga Yeath Qua Pieth Tow (baptized: Brant) and Etow Oh Koam (baptized: Nicholas).
