The Historische und Völkerkundemuseum (Historical and Anthropological Museum) St. Gallen/ Switzerland was established in 1917. However, the foundation of the historical and anthropological collection was already set in 1861 resp. 1879, when the two “Vereine (clubs)” (Historischer Verein des Kantons St.Gallen and Ostschweizerische Geographisch-Commercielle Gesellschaft) started their collecting activities.
The St. Gallen North America collection consists of ca. 500 inventory numbers. 39 of the objects belong to the Northeastern Woodlands and have a possible Great Lakes context.
