Materials

Green Broadcloth, black stroud, olive woolen tape, linen thread, calico of brown, orange, and cream. Beads- greasy: dark turquoise, lemon yellow, dusty rose. Clear: yellow, pink, scarlet. White hearts: opalescent, orange, bluish white. Metal [silver?] beads. CW

Techniques or Format

V- shaped piece of dark blue wool stroud with another shorter V attached to the front to form a pocket with the back extending above the front. The upper panel is green wool broadcloth. The back panel is black wool stroud. The outer edge and lip of the opening are bound with olive woolen tape. A loop of tape is attached at center top edge to suspend the pocket. CW.

Motifs and Patterns

symmetrical floral motif with asymmetric beadwork colors on front of pocket and an incomplete spiral wave and spring design on the upper panel. The edges are stitched with metal [silver?] beads. CW.

Other Notes

Watch pocket with symmetrical floral motif utilizing asymmetrical colors. Would have been made for sale, ones made for use were often beaded on back. Overall H 7.25" x W 3.37"; pouch H 4.5" pocket 3.5". CW.
