A birchbark and sweetgrass tray. Anishinaabe or Odawa, from Northern Michigan. Collected by Amos H. Gotschall between 1880 and 1914. Acquired by the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia (ANSP) in 1914. Lent to the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology in 1936, and formally gifted to the museum in 1991 or 1992.

A circular bottom panel of birchbark, with the second growth piece on the inside, edged with a purple splint, followed by rows of bunched sweetgrass wrapped with thread. There is one row of zig-zag sweetgrass bunches. The last row of bunched sweetgrass also contains a line of purple splint.
