speech by Confederate Indians at the Glache to John Graves Simcoe, 27 February 1793
The speaker here is the one asking the British to ensure the other nations attend the council fire to be held at Sandusky, noting that "we shall then be able to speak our minds without fear.". This speech is interesting in that the speaker first addresses "Father & Brother" and then "Father the English." While this may be indicative of nothing more than the subjective understandings of the translator, it might speak to an intentional distinction the speaker made in addressing his audience.
