Description of Writing/Text

Description of Land Sold:

A tract of land lying between Lake Ontario and Lake Erie, beginning at Lake Ontario four miles south-west, from the point opposite to Fort Niagara. It then runs from there along Washquarter Creek into Lake Ontario, and from there fourtyfive degrees north, fifty miles west, forty five degrees south, twenty miles west, and then runs south until it meets the River La Tranche. It then runs down that river to the part where a due south course will lead to the mouth of Catfish Creek, and emptying into Lake Erie. From the River La Tranche it follows a southerly course to the mouth of Catfish Creek; then down Lake Erie to the land previously purchased from the Mississauga Indians; and from there along the boundary of that purchase to Lake Ontario. This purchase includes all the woods, waterways, paths, waters, within these lands. The purchase price was set at 1180 pounds currency.
