Pouch
Double-lobed shot pouch constructed of tanned hide, with porcupine quillwork embroidered on front panel and trimmed with metal "tinklers" along bottom edge. Symmetrical geometric design is made with natural quills and dyed quills in red ochre and black. Collected by Lewis Henry Morgan circa 1840s. Possibly from Western Great Lakes region (R.P.)

Constructed of three pieces of hide. The front, the back and the band with the thunderbirds is a separate piece. Embroidered with zigzag and single quill. Blanket stitch.
AN: Suggests that the vertical motifs along the front look like they have serpent like heads.
Provenance
Collected by Lewis Henry Morgan in 1840s in New York State and bequeathed to the University of Rochester (U of R) upon his death in 1881. The collection was transferred from the U of R to the Rochester Museum in 1970.
