Incised pipe bowl carved from single piece of red catlinite. Collected by General Sir Gordon Drummond.

Materials

Techniques or Format

Stem has flat top and base and curved sides, and tapers in height and width towards distal end. Sides of stem are carved to form four slightly projecting bands, each bisected by fine incised line. Wider bands of lower relief between these are carved to form convex curve. Bowl is roughly conical in shape, flaring towards top with is slightly convex. Three incised lines encircling bowl near top are separated by concave bands.

Dimensions: 0 × 0 × 6.5 cm
Condition: Chipped around bowl edge and other places; also scratched. Bowl and stem have been broken apart and repaired; fine crack is still visible.
