Cast pewter pipe bowl with curved distal extension of the base and a flaring, circular-sectioned bowl with grooved and undercut bands below the flaring rim.

Motifs and Patterns

Distal extension of base curves up to meet bowl with a horse head terminal. Series of small pierced fins are all along the bottom of the base and a large pierce-work fin is on the upper proximal surface of the base.

Additional Context

AC confirms horse head also; has 10 protrusions representing the mane, followed by 10 protrusions each bored with hole along the bottom of the shank. Top of shank has 5 leaf-shaped cut-outs.

Other Notes

Marks: "C-1110" painted in red, old Chandler #? Relatively small size - "delicate" carving, but heavy because pewter. Manitoulin said to be uninhabited at 1800, but this lends weight to the idea that several chiefs were already there.
