A pair of beaded moccasins. Probably Hodenosaunee and made in the last half of the twentieth century. Acquired by the Woodland Cultural Centre from the Old Santa Fe Trading Post in 1976.

leather or hide soles; cotton, beige; woolen cloth, red; silken ribbon, green; seed beads: clear, dark blue, opaque white, translucent yellow and orange and red, greasy pink and green, white heart beads, pea green, yellow, lighter blue; thread, cotton.
The leather portion of the moccasins appear to have been made in a unique way. The soles are separate from the side pieces and top, sewn together, and then the vamp has been sewn to the leather portion.
four and three lobed designs; zig zags; leaf motif.
According to Gerry Biron (2006), the larger floral motifs seen in this beadwork were most popular in the last half of the 19th century to the early 20th century.
