Moccasins, hide is as soft as felt, 18th century or early 19th century.

Materials

Smoked moose and caribou hide, porcupine quills

Techniques or Format

Inset vamp with fine toe puckering, no cuffs, "T" seam at heel, small tabs sewn on at front of ankle for attachment of ties, sawtooth, double fold, and zig-zag band quillwork

On-site researchers: hide is as soft as felt and would have been workable like felt

Condition: Good, colours of quillwork have faded
