Elliott covers several topics in this letter. First, he says that the boat requested has been sent. Presumably, the boat carrying much sought after provisions, although this is not expressly stated, see related items for details. Elliott reports on a confrontation between the soldiers accompanying the boat and the local inhabitants. He offers an update of the war in Europe, that the Austrians edged a victory in the most recent battle and that the Queen of France may have been beheaded. Significantly, Elliott concludes the letter by writing "[T]he presents are on board the Dunmar at Fort Erie, She is espected [sic] here the first fair wind."
