Information from the catalogue card.

Materials

navy woolen cloth; black cotton cloth; red cotton tape; sizes 10 and 12 opaque white beads; leather thong; yellow and brownish orange thread; beige thread; black thread

Techniques or Format

The leggings are made from single pieces of navy cloth, and sewn up the sides. The top 10cm is lined with black cotton.

Motifs and Patterns

A single inward curving double curve motif is beaded onto at the top of the border of one legging.

Additional Context

The embroidery looks as though it may be text - if it is I cannot read it. Perhaps the embroidery is left over from a previous use of the navy cloth, cut in half to make the leggings.

The triple-curve motif found in the beaded border at the bottom of the leggings resembles the motif on two fragments, also held at the NMAI, collected from by Keppler from Chauncey Abrams at Cattaraugus (145690 and 001770)
