About This GRASAC Record
Created by Nikolaus Stolle during a research visit to the museum commissioned by Ruth Phillips and supported by her research funds. Amended by Cory Willmott 1/23/11.
This item was originally identified as part of a women's legging. I've changed it to that of a man's legging, however. The orientation of the decorations on men's leggings are vertical; those of women's leggings are horizontal. The identification of this piece as a portion of a man's legging depends upon the characteristic style of men's legging decoration coupled with the measurements of the piece. These considerations suggest that the portion of the garment that was cut off and later "restored" with glazed linen is the majority of the top end. I have therefore re-assigned the identification from women's to men's, changed the measurements to width and height, and added an image with the right orientation. CW 1/23/11
