Description of Land Sold:

His Majesty, George the Fourth, has given and granted unto the Honourable William Claus, of the Town of Niagara, in the County of Lincoln, in the Niagara District, Deputy Superintendent General of Indian Affairs, all that parcel or tract of land situated in the Township of Hawkesbury, Eastern Division, in the County of Prescott, in the Ottawa District, containing by measurement 5,000 acres. The land granted contains lots no.’s fourteen, fifteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty-four, twenty-five, twenty-six, in the fourth concession; lots no.’s thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, eighteen, twenty, twenty-one, twenty-two, twenty-three and twenty-five of the fifth concession; and lots no.’s 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, and twenty-one in the sixth concession of the said township, together with all the woods and waters lying and being under the reservations, limitations, and conditions, hereinafter expressed.

Commencing in front of the said concessions at the north-east angle of each of the said lots respectively; then south twenty-five degrees west one hundred and five chains twenty-seven links to the allowance for road in the rear of the said concessions; then north sixty-five degrees west nineteen chains, to the western limit of each lot; then north twenty-five degrees east one hundred and five chains, to the allowance for road in front of the said concessions; then south sixty-five degrees east nineteen chains, to the place of beginning in each lot.

William Claus shall be given and granted the above tract of land, saving to Us, Our heirs and successors, all mines of gold and silver that shall or may be hereafter found on any part of the said tract of land hereby given and granted as aforesaid; and saving and reserving to Us, Our heirs and successors, all white pine trees that shall or may now or hereafter grow, or be growing on any part of the said parcel or tract of land hereby granted as aforesaid.
