Introduction

A beaver turban lined with cotton cloth and beaded with variously coloured seed beads. The boy's cap was obtained by Mr. Jones from a Mesquakie woman near Tama, Iowa.

Materials

beaver fur stripes, black cotton cloth, seed beads (white, light-, dark blue, green, pink)

Techniques or Format

Made of two beaver stripes, which are sewn together. The inside is lined with black cotton cloth which is folded over the upper edge. This edge is bound with glass beads and the upper outer side is beaded with ovoids. Sewing done with cotton thread.
