Other Notes

A patch of black cloth sewn across the back centre, where an opening would be on a Glengarry cap. In the Victorian period Glengarry caps came into style. Possibly the base for this headdress is a Glengarry cap, purchased and subsequently decorated and made into a headdress. This is the first time RP had seen a glengarry cap used as a base for a head dress (RP). LS great grandfather has head dresses that were made by sewing feathers onto a felt base.
