A surrender of land by the Indians of Gros Cap to the Crown. the Indians have surrendered a tract of land being the whole of Gros Cap being on the north shore of Lake Superior and extending northward. The land is to be sold at the best price for the benefit of the Indians.

Chief Tootomenie of the Tribe of Indians residing and holding lands at Gros Cap, on Lake Superior, near the Hudson's Bay Post of Michipicoton, has surrendered unto Her Majesty Queen Victoria, a tract of land situated on the north shore of Lake Superior, composed of an area of land equal to one square mile at Gros Cap, comprising the whole of the cap, and extending as far northward as may be necessary to produce the said square mile or 640 acres of land. The land is to be held in trust for the purpose of being sold to the best advantage, and the proceeds shall be invested in a fund for the use and benefit of the Indians of Gros Cap.
