Wool yarn, glass beads

Techniques or Format

Woven of S plied wool warp in various colors, and X plied vegetable weft, in warp-faced plain weave (beads accessory to weft). The finish is one row of two- strand weft twining, and the fringe is of three-strand interlacing, with supplementary S plied vegetable fiber strung with beads.

Motifs and Patterns

Simple striped design in green, ochre, red and black. Design is accented with parallel broken stripes of white beads. The long borders and the center stripe are interlocked dentated red and black bands.

Item was photographed by Kelly Konieczki while on exhibit at the DIA, which resulted in distorted images due to limited access to the display. The images were meant to be temporary, in order to create a GKS record prior to the GRASAC team's visit. Good images are not yet available.
