Anishinaabe drum and drumstick. Drum is made of wooden frame with stretched hide secured with possibly sinew. Drumstick is made of wood with muslin tip possibly painted or dyed red. Purchased from Albert G. Heath.

Techniques or Format

Drum: Thin piece of wood is curved into a circular frame, the ends secured with a nail. One piece of hide is stretched around the frame, its ends are brought together and secured along the sides of the wood with the lacing of sinew through holes that have been made in the hide. Drumstick: carved wood, with possibly muslin strip that has been sewn together and wrapped at the end. Possibly red paint found on tip of drumstick.
