This painting of leaders of the Ojibwe (or Chippewa) nation, of the Anishinaabe peoples, is in the National Gallery of Canada. It is by Rudolph Steiger or von Steiger and dates from 1815. The companion piece of this work, "Deputation of Indians from the Mississippi Tribes to the Governor General of British North America, Sir George Prevost," by von Steiger, dated 1814,is in the Library and Archives Canada collection and also entered in GKS. Another painting very similar in style to these two but by an unknown artist and not attributed to von Steiger, is "Two Ottawa Chiefs Who with Others lately Came Down from Michillimackinac, Lake Huron, to Have a Talk with Their Great Father the King or His Representative," of 1813-1820.It also is in the LAC collection and is in the GKS.
The Ojibwe (Chippewa) are of the Anishinaabe peoples.
