Two model cradleboards of birchbark and sweetgrass. Anishinnabe, Odawa. Collected by Amos H. Gottschall between 1880 and 1920. Acquired by the Philadelphia Academy of Natural Science and later, lent to the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology.
The collector provided the identification of Northern Michigan, Ottawa.

Each cradleboard is made from a piece of birch bark with a scalloped top, edged with bunches of sweetgrass tacked down with black thread. Both have sweetgrass supports and two silken or cotton tassels, attached to either side of the support.
Made as toys or souvenirs.
