Club, ball headed
This relative, a ball-headed club, features the carving of an animal head with the ball-end in its mouth. The species of animal is indistinguishable, but ears, eyes, and nose are identifiable. At the base of the shaft one hole has been drilled through (potentially for strap?). The origins of the club are not certain; however, it has probable connections to the Mingo from Ohio and is dated to the late 18th century.
This relative currently resides at the National Museum of Ireland.
Note from Nicholas Stolle: Related to a group of similar clubs from Ohio identfied as Mingo, related to Chief Logan, one in National Museum of the American Indian, one in a private collection.
