A beaded Hodenosaunee chatelaine bag with floral designs and looped beaded fringe, made between 1870-1880. Purchased by the museum from Eckert in 1882.

This bag is made with velvet pieces, lined with natural cotton and possibly pink polished cotton, sewn together and bound with red cotton tape, the bottom edge has a looped bead fringe. The flaps on both sides are also lined with natural cotton, one flap with pink polished cotton. Both sides of the bag, as well as the flaps, are decorated with appliquéd beadwork and metal sequins. The opening of bag has been edged with red silk ribbon. Handle is made of two pieces of flat cotton cord that have been sewn to the sides of the bag and knotted together.
