Birch bark model canoe ornamented with porcupine quills. Wrapped wood splint edges and wood splint lines the interior.

Motifs and Patterns

floral quillwork in red, white, green and yellow. Wild roses and rose hips, and other flowers, circles; line all the way around the base.

Dimensions: 36 × 3 × 7 in
Condition: Poor due to fading colors, dirt, and missing pieces. CW-darkened bark and quills.

Item was pulled from DIA storage by request during the GRASAC visit, therefore detailed images are not yet available.
