Introduction

This is a watercolour portrait of Oronhyatekha, Burning Cloud, Mohawk chief, also known as Peter Martin. He studied at Oxford, was appointed medical attendant for Indian Reserves, and was a central figure in the Order of Foresters. The painting is by Sir Henry Wentworth Acland, 1860.
