Materials

Made of birch bark, sweetgrass, brown thread, flattened root and porcupine quills dyed yellow and white.

Techniques or Format

A central disc of birch bark forms the base. moving outwards and upwards from this central disc is a row of sweetgrass wrapped with thread, followed by a zig zag row of flattened root, a ring of birch bark, with a final outside ring of wrapped sweetgrass. Porcupine quillwork decorates birch bark disc.

Motifs and Patterns

A four-petaled flower motif, or a four-directions flower with a sun at the centre.

Condition: Fair. Some quills are missing.
