Bow, magical, tobacco missing. Bow made from a branch of a red osier dogwood tree with bark left on, all over length of bow convex, one end with knot and V-shaped cut (nock), other end rounded, twigs cut off. Bowstring, string, wrapped around branch with thread at V-shaped cut end, this end is the thickest width of branch and width gradually narrows the remaining length of the branch.;;

1918/09/, Six Nations Reserve, Ontario, Canada, (DOCUMENTATION) (Waugh) "Bow of red osier dogwood, with slippery elm cord and tobacco tied near one end. This was carried as a protective weapon against snakes when travelling. The belief is (or was) that the snake's head could be cut off with a blow from the taut string of the bow.
