Made of wood, snakeskin, quill*, beads, linen.
This wooden bow was covered on one side with snakeskin and both ends are bound with red, yellow, green and pink bird quill. Sherry Farrell Racette thinks that the term quill is more accurate than what the museum catalog card uses, which used the term cane.
With the museum record was a note that stated it was used in attack by Red River Indians during the Rebellion of 1867. Bristol Museum Catalog Card. However, Sherry Farrell Racette notes that this is false and that it was most likely used in the Battle of Seven Oaks.
While the museum record states that this was used in 1867, and therefore created at a later date, Sherry Farrel Racette notes that this attribution is false. She notes that it was probably used at the Battle of Seven Oaks in 1816 (SFR).
