Bone rattle or soundmaker strung on cotton string. Collected by Dr. Oronhyatekha; acquired by the ROM in 1911 from the Independent Order of Foresters.

7 pieces of bone, mammalian. Distal limb bones. Belong to different species and bone types. 3 ceramic pipe stem fragments.
Bones have been hollowed out. All pieces have been cut. Some have been ground (rounded) at the end. Some have more pronounced rounding from the inside. LD suggests that the bones could have come from different strings, so that perhaps this is a composite. Strung by the museum on cotton thread.

LD possible soundmaker
LD says there is no way this is from a necklace. This is something that would have been used to make a sound. Different materials would make different sounds. For conservation reasons, the rattle/soundmaker can't be sounded.
