Long rectangular loom woven panel, Opaque and semi-translucent glass beads, woven with cotton string warps and wefts, Design consists of geometric designs on a white background, Around circumference is an inner border of medium blue beads, End pieces are thin strips of brown leather.

Motifs and Patterns

Designs alternate between either one type of green and black feathers and arrows, other type of red diamond with opposing arrows on top and bottom, At each end are two green and black diamonds.

Collection Narratives and Histories

Once owned by Nathaniel Murdock William John McKenzie (1856-1943) was born in Stromness, Orkney Islands. He took a contract with the HBC in 1876 as a carpenter serving at Fort Ellice in Southwestern Manitoba. He rose through the ranks from this position to Post Manager, Clerk in Charge, Clerk and Trader, and finally District Manager for the Lake Huron and Lake Superior regions. He retired briefly June 1, 1893 and then returned into the service until 1914. During his employment, he worked in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and in the northern Great Lakes region.
