Red-wool beaded Seneca style-pouch with curvilinear, zig-zag and diamond motifs.

Materials

Red wool with black polished cotton lining. Bound with silk ribbon. Silk ribbon handle. Beads, thread. 2 sets of metal hook and eye.

Techniques or Format

Back and foldover flap made of single piece of red wool. Body of pouch is bound with blue silk ribbon, Front flap bound with green silk ribbon. Ornamented with beadwork on front and back.

Motifs and Patterns

Zigzags. Double lobed motif at border of front flap. Diamond shapes with double lobed motifs at the corners. Curvilinear motifs

Other Notes

Style appears to be Seneca (WC). Appears unfinished or was perhaps the project of someone just learning (WC). Line of beadwork at the back of the pouch is multicoloured.
