Introduction

Haudenosaunee "chatelaine"-style beaded bag (Seneca style), with glass beads and silk. Collected in 1931.

Date Made or Date Range: before 1931
Materials

White, light blue, periwinkle blue, pink, red, and gold glass seed beads (size 12?), faded black wool cloth, cardboard, lined with brown cotton cloth. Bound with red silk ribbon. Beads missing on front panel.

beadwork embroidery on both sides; flap on front (constructed out of 2 pieces)

Paper template under flower beadwork starting to come off. Note found inside bag: "Captain Andreson [unreadable] wife / brought Indian bag / home to Maura when / she was a little girl"
