Techniques or Format

This basket is made using the plaiting technique, with wider ash splint spokes, and weavers made of possibly sweetgrass(?). Narrow ash splints are used as weavers around the middle of the body of the basket as well as the middle of the lid, creating a decorative motif. A wider splint is looped through the top of the lid to form a small handle.

Motifs and Patterns

The difference in the colour of the sweetgrass(?) and narrow ash splint weavers creates a decorative motif on the body and lid of the basket.
