19120400-19120700, Six Nations Reserve, Ontario, Canada, (CULTURE REMARKS)Attribution by provenance (DOCUMENTATION)(Waugh) "Ball for Double Ball Game - Jacob Hess" (COMMENTS)Double ball game was similar to lacrosse but was played by the women. A stick was used to toss two skin bags or two similar objects joined together by a thong. Two bases were used, two poles or two piles of earth approximately 300 to 400 yards apart. The object of the game was to get the ball over the opponents base line or to take it home (Culin:647, 648). Men were the spectators and cheered whenever a goal was made (Ritzenthaler, 113). Bets were made on the results of the score (Culin, 648).
