This relative is a Hodenosaunee beaded bag in the linear beadwork style attributed to the Seneca. In 1992, Marshall Joseph Becker gifted this bag to the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology where it currently resides.

dark brown velvet; burgundy silk; natural cotton; burgundy satin ribbon; size 12 opaque white, blue, dusty rose, green seed beads; size 12 translucent opalescent, mustard and red heart beads; size 10 opaque white seed beads; beige thread; paper.
Made from two pieces of dark brown velvet, lined with cotton and silk, and sewn together and edged in burgundy satin ribbon and one-bead picot edging. The back piece has an extra part at the top which folds over the other piece as a flap. Beaded applique decorates both sides. A piece of burgundy satin ribbon is attached to either side, forming a strap.
Back: A border of bands around a single 6-petaled floral motif with sprays between the petals; a spray or floral motif on the flap.
Front bottom: A border of bands around a line of two-leaf motifs.
