Brown (possibly list) fabric, Red fabric, red and blue silk ribbon, canvas. Beads- Greasy: dark turquoise, dark mustard, med greed, dusty rose. Clear: forest green. Opaque: White, navy blue, dark periwinkle blue. White hearts: red. Beads in design are size 13, the edging is size 9 - 10. CW.
Seam down center front of bag. Two bead edge stitch on lip. The bag front, the back and the strap fronts are made of a chocolate woolen cloth (there is no nap, may be list cloth) which would have been sold mainly at major fur posts. The decorative flaps are of scarlet broadcloth and edged with navy blue silk ribbon. The back panel that extends out is decorated with red silk ribbon. The straps are edged with wide red silk ribbon. Large beaded fields of curvilinear motif, with white bead edging on bag flaps, and straps. The bag and straps are lined with undyed, unbleached canvas fabric. CW.
Stylized transitional curvilinear. The pattern is symmetrical and outlined in white beads. Transitional beadwork design between geometric and floral. CW.
Nearly square bag with large panels of multi colored beading on brown fabric. It has a back panel that extends above the front and an attached flap at the bottom. Wave shaped bottom edge with four tabs. The lip of the opening has ma matching flap attached. The straps are not attached to each other at present. The each end in a two pronged/ forked tongued shape. Cloth is a high quality, may have been a suggestive of a status symbol. Enigmatic bag combining many styles. Overall- L 34.75" x W 7"; Pouch is H 11" (overall); pocket H 7.5"; Strap is L 19.75 x W 2.625." CW. 1916.069.0001 is the wrong number; MHM catalog record lists this number as a "sachem belt." CG.
