Introduction

Painted and carved wooden cradleboard; most likely Haudenosaunee. Created before 1956.

Materials

wood, twine, hide thong, metal wire, paint/pigment, screws

Techniques or Format

top of board has grooves cut out; footboard secured with screws; back crossbar secured with screws; bow secured with twine on one side and on other is secured with twine, hide thong and metal wire. Ends of bow inserted in to holes in crossbar. Remnants of paint on bow. back is carved and painted
