Anishinaabe (Southeastern Ojibwa) wooden cradleboard, painted and carved. Has a cotton moss bag attached with embroidery in a butterfly motif. Created prior to 1983.

Moss bag: navy, dark green and yellow plaid flannel lined with brown cotton; strips of hide on front with holes for lacing hide thong; front is also edged with green ric-rac. Inside bag lined with (possibly) very fine beige flannel which is embroidered in floral motif. Secured to frame with metal wire. Board: painted dark green; top has scalloped edging and engraving with triangles and diagonal lines. Back: Same carved design as front. Strip of hide nailed to back crossbar; fringed with aluminum (recycled cans) cones. Knit woolen strap held with hide thong laced through holes in the back board. Has a cotton cover embroidered with butterfly designs and edged in same ric-rac as bag.
