Letter from I. Schie[ss/ff]elin to unnamed recepient. 7 May 1793.
In this letter, Schieffelin brings to the attention of a superior the contents of a speech that had been addressed to him. The gist of the speech is that the Indians have resolved not to attend the council fire at the Miamies River unless he indicates it is his will that they should do so. Shieffelin notes that he has never been treated better by Indians and that he "never saw Indians so Zealously attached or better in==clined to Government than those are at present : Nor did I ever experience better treatment in any part of the Indian Countries than I received at this Post during the Windeter and Spring." It should be noted that in the speech recited by Schieffelin, the Indians refer to him as an adopted Brother to the same father, named Egusheway.
