Introduction

Pair of moccasins made of deer skin that has been dyed light brown. Decorated with brightly coloured porcupine quillwork. Originally collected by Johann Georg Schwarz in the 1820s, these moccasins are currently housed at the Weltmuseum Wien, Austria.

Center inset vamp with fapered toe; separate high cuff with no flap.

Motifs and Patterns

Applique quill work, but not in zigzag fashion. Floral motifs feature throughout.
