Provenance
The first album of Chaplin images was acquired from a dealer in 1953 through family descent; 10 of the folios were removed from the album in 1955 and sold to the Royal Ontario Museum. The second album was acquired in 1997 from family descendants.
The Chaplin diaries and watercolours are featured in a book by Jim Burant entitled Drawing on the Land: The New World Travel Diaries and Watercolours of Millicent Mary Chaplin, 1838-1842 (Manotick: Penumbra Press, 2004).
