Introduction

Anishinaabe birch bark container with lid, with geese and thistle motifs scraped into bark. Collected at Tamagami, Nipissing district, Ontario; made in 1914, purchased by museum in 1946.

single piece of bark sewn into box with spruce root. Intaglio designs- geese on box and thistle on lid. Lid is attached with hide thong; note on bottom of lid: "Temagami Band/ Ojibwe/ F.G.S. 1914/ Goose figures"; hide handle; loose spruce roots kept inside; not in pencil on bottom side of container "Temagami"
