Techniques or Format
Sash or bandolier is decorated with thirty hooves and dew claws. Red wool trade cloth with tan stripe at each end, one edge bound with tan braid, handstiched, and lined with beige cloth. Other edge is scalloped and hand stitched along cut edge, but not otherwise finished.

Condition:
Some hooves and claws are missing, as evidenced by ten empty leather thongs.

Collection Narratives and Histories
Collected by M. G. Chandler at Walpole Island, Ontario. Local tradition indicated this was part of the war bundle of Pontiac, Ottawa chief. According to Pohrt, the material is not old enough to have belonged to Pontiac; Chandler's informant may have meant Tecumseh.
