Made of birch bark panels, joined by sweetgrass bunches.
It is in the shape of a purse, with braided sweetgrass handles, attached to the container with a double-loop pattern. The lid is tacked shut. There is one porcupine quill (dyed green) tack.
Gottschall collected between 1880-1914.
Provenance
In May of 1914 the Gottschall collection was accessioned by the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia (ANSP). Lent to the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology in 1936, and formally gifted in 1991 or 1992.
