Ornamental panel of loomed quill work. Northern Anishinaabeg or Cree, made between 1750 and 1815. Donated to the British Museum by Engligh ethnologist Henry Christy between 1860 and 1869.

Materials

A panel of unsmoked hide decorated with porcupine quills in red faded to orange, blue, white and light blue, edged with white beads. Both sides have a fringe of black and yellow elongated beads and red and white pony beads, with red woolen tassles and twisted thongs that are red, possibly coloured with ochre.

Sewn, decorated with quillwork and beadwork.
