Introduction

This relative, a pipe stem, is incised with motifs of tipis, flowers, hearts, circles, and an eight-pointed star. It is composed of wood and the incised motifs have been in-painted blue and red. Although the origins of this relative are not certain, it has probable connections with the Anishinaabe and is believed to have been made between the 1820s and 1870s.

This relative currently resides in the National Museum of Ireland.
