Techniques or Format

The rectangular bag is of navy blue plain weave wool. To this is applied a rectangle of red wool decorated with beaded embroidery in a diaper pattern. The upper three sides are edged with beaded blue fabric. The whole bag is edged on the top three sides with red wool tape. The shoulder strap is covered by a panel of loom-woven beadwork in an elaborate design. The bag has long fringe and is lined with beige cotton plain weave.

Condition: Pouch has a tear in the foundation fabric. Previous yarn repair with vegetable thread. Insect damage (not active). Self-fringe is soiled. Front of item was photographed by Kelly Konieczki while on exhibit at the DIA.
