Moccasin, sawtooth quillwork, possibly Cree or Metis.

Caribou, moose hide (quite porous)

Techniques or Format

Inset vamp, "T" seam at heel with small tabs, quilled edging around ankle and tongue, no cuffs, quilled fringe decoration instead, sawtooth stitch quill border around vamp

Other Notes

On-site researchers: highly skilled, meticulous quillwork, the braided fold technique permits striped patterns, inset vamp and the sawtooth quillwork bordering the vamp are characteristic of Cree work as is the striping. The braided quilled fringes in place of cuffs are similar to those found on painted Cree and Metis coats
